The Safest Bank

He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD,
and he will reward him for what he has done. (Proverbs 19:17)

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
(Luke 12:33-34)

As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on." (Luke 21:1-4)
This passage is a convicting reminder that, in God's eyes, the biggest donors are not those who give the most money but those who spend the least on themselves. That makes me a small donor.
